Homes and vehicles have been submerged as a result of heavy rainfall in southern Thailand, causing widespread flooding and disrupting train transportation, especially in the Pala region.

The torrential rains have led to extensive flooding, impacting tens of thousands of people in the southernmost parts of Thailand.

At least twelve schools in the provinces of Yala and Narathiwat have been compelled to close their doors, and some roads and railway lines have been severed due to the heavy downpour.

Images captured in these remote areas depict homes and shops inundated with muddy waters, with residents seeking refuge on higher floors.

Moreover, the heavy rains have caused at least seven boats to sink in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea since last Friday.

The National Railways Authority of Thailand reported that floodwaters have resulted in the suspension of train services heading towards the Malaysian border in the town of Yala. Authorities have urged residents in these affected regions to prepare for potential evacuations if flood levels continue to rise.

This flooding in southern Thailand underscores the region's vulnerability to heavy rainfall and the need for proactive measures to mitigate the impact of such natural disasters.

Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation and providing support to those affected by the floods.

Efforts are underway to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected communities and to restore transportation links disrupted by the flooding.
