A Court sentenced on Thursday TV anchor Tamer Amin to two years in prison and a bail of 50 thousand pounds, in addition to a fine of 40 thousand to the civil prosecution on charges of bullying Egyptian model.
Amin is accused of insulting, slandering and violating the privacy of model Merhan Hisham Abdel Qader, know as "Merhan Keller".
Counselor Haitham Abbas stated that during the African Nations Championship in Cairo, some Egyptian national team players harassed, through social media, an Egyptian model residing in the UAE.
The model said: "I was exposed to a wave of verbal harassment, from the presenter Tamer Amin in a program broadcast on one of the channels."
"Amin didn't even call me to ask for my opinion or talk about the issue. Instead, he focused on the way I look, saying that someone ugly like me could not be a victim of sexual harassment," she added.
Amin had addressed the problem between the model and some players of the Egyptian soccer team on June 24th during a show.
According to Keller's lawyer, there was a case of harassment from Egyptian footballers during a training camp ahead of the World Cup.
Meantime, Abbas had instituted the misdemeanor against Amin on charges of harassment, and bullying, until the court sentenced him to two years imprisonment and a bail of 50 thousand pounds.
