The Taliban (an Afghani Islamist militant movement) announced that the terrorist organization "ISIS" has become under the control of the interim government formed by the movement.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said at a press conference held in the Afghan capital, Kabul, that the movement's government managed to arrest hundreds of members of the terrorist organization.

Mujahid added  that the "ISIS" has become "under our control in one way or another," stressing that the terrorist organization "did not pose a major threat now."

Mujahid explained that the recent months have witnessed the arrest of about 600 people for belonging to the "ISIS" organization, considering this a "great achievement".

He said that the number of members of the terrorist organization in Afghanistan is not large because they do not receive support from the people.

He pointed out that the detainees, including a group of women, are currently being interrogated by women as well.

The Taliban had toppled the US-backed government last August and announced an interim government seeking to restore stability to the country after decades of Soviet occupation and civil war.

But the Taliban government still faces international sanctions and bloody attacks by ISIS, while climate change has made drought more frequent in the country.

On the other hand, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, announced on Wednesday that Moscow's format for consultations on Afghanistan retains great potential that makes it possible to coordinate efforts to promote a settlement in Afghanistan.

Patrushev said during the session of the "New Delhi Dialogue for Regional Security in Afghanistan" held in New Delhi: "The Russian government believes that the Moscow format for consultations on Afghanistan retains its great potential, which makes it possible to coordinate efforts to promote the Afghan settlement, taking into account the new political conditions in that country."

Patrushev added that a good basis has been laid in Moscow for defining the positions of our countries on developing dialogue with the Taliban, as well as for practical coordination of the efforts of all concerned countries in the region."
