Dr. Maha Talaat, Regional Advisor of Antimicrobial Resistance of the World Health Organization, said on Friday that the decreasing of global COVID-19 infections and deaths are a sign of the third wave decline.
Regarding the pandemic situation in India, she continued that it is somehow different as the state suffers from double mutations of the virus which led the infection to be increased.
The advisor added that organizing several crowded religious festivals and gatherings without applying any protective procedures greatly contributed to such a situation in India.
Also, she asserted that following the protective procedures especially using facing masks.
Regarding the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines, Talaat underscored those developed and rich countries consumed 80% of the vaccine doses, therefore, she asserted the importance of creating a balanced and fair distribution of the vaccines worldwide.
