Taiwan Detects 1st Delta Variant Case

On Saturday, Taiwan detected the first domestic COVID-19 infection with the Delta variant. Therefore, the authorities have imposed strict restrictions in the south.

The authorities added that they detected six COVID-19 infections with the Indian strain Pingtung city, including two persons who were abroad. They may contract the virus in Peru before they transmit it.

Currently, the government test all the city's residents, in addition to quarantining everyone who was in direct contact with the infected persons.

After detecting the new variant in Taiwan, the authorities decided to close all hypermarkets, restaurants and markets that display fresh food such as meat, and fish for three days.
