New data from Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) shows that Syrian women topped the list of Arab nationalities entering marriages in Egypt during 2024. A total of 731 marriage contracts involving Syrian women were registered, with the majority—529 contracts—linking Syrian brides to Egyptian husbands. Another 127 marriages were recorded between Syrian men and Syrian women living in Egypt, while six contracts involved Syrian brides marrying Saudi nationals.
Palestinian women ranked second with 271 recorded marriages in Egypt. Of these, 198 were to Egyptian men, 49 to Syrians and 60 to Palestinians. Sudanese women followed with 182 marriage contracts, including 125 involving Egyptian husbands and 43 involving men of other nationalities.
Saudi women registered 22 marriage contracts in Egypt, the vast majority—19—being with Egyptian spouses. Additional figures included five marriage contracts involving Kuwaiti women married to Egyptians, 92 involving Jordanian women with 88 marriages to Egyptians, and 10 involving Libyan women of whom nine married Egyptians.
The statistics also listed 696 marriage contracts for other Arab nationalities residing in Egypt, including 388 marriages to Egyptian men and 146 to men of other Arab nationalities. The data reflects shifting demographics among expatriate communities in Egypt and highlights the growing diversity of cross-national marriages recorded in the country.
