Syrian Foreign Minister (FM) Asaad Al-Shibani expressed his hope that his visit to Saudi Arabia would open a new chapter in the relationship between the two countries.
The Syrian news agency "SANA" quoted Al-Shibani in a post on "X," saying: "I have just arrived in the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, accompanied by Defense Minister Marhaf Abu Qasra and General Intelligence Chief Anas Khattab."
Al-Shibani added: "Through this first visit in the history of Free Syria, we aspire to open a new and bright chapter in Syrian-Saudi relations that reflects the shared rich history between the two nations."
Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji, welcomed the Syrian delegation upon their arrival at King Khalid International Airport.
The visit coincides with the arrival of the first wave of Saudi relief supplies for the Syrian people on Wednesday, including food, shelter, and medical aid.
