The suspect in the incident at the Trump rally died, along with an attendee, local prosecutor Richard Goldinger told AP.
Reports added that the shooter is 20 years old, Thomas Matthew Crooks from Pennsylvania.
Two law enforcement sources told CBS that the male suspect was dead. CBS also reported that Secret Service agents "engaged" the suspect.
A witness told the BBC that he was outside the rally and could only hear the former president speak when he noticed a man on the roof.
"We noticed the guy crawling up the roof of the building beside us, 50 feet away from us. He had a rifle, we could clearly see him with a rifle," adding that they pointed the man out to police.
