The phone theft incident received a great deal of attention among social media users, as a large number of live broadcast followers saw a thief stealing a reporter's phone until he went to sell it.

While the thief was riding a motorcycle to flee the scene, the live broadcast was still on, and his face was easily revealed, and soon it was shared everywhere allover the internet, making him the most popular thief in Egypt.

The Ministry of Interior issued a statement, in which it revealed the circumstances of a video clip that included 3 persons riding a motorcycle whose license plate numbers were unknown, stealing a mobile phone from a journalist in the "New Mehwar" area of ​​Al Marg Police Department, while he was live-streaming a video using a mobile phone.

The statement stated, that the security authorities were able, through the examination, to reach the victim, who is a resident of El Matariya district, and by questioning him, he confessed.

By intensifying investigations and following the path of the perpetrators, and through the use of modern technologies, it was possible to identify the perpetrators of the incident, numbering 3 people with criminal record.
