Minister of Supply Ali al-Moselhi said that the state, with all its executive monitoring arms, will confront any price and market rigging, including product fraud or withholding goods from circulation and storage with the aim of thirsting the markets.
This came during Moselhi's meeting with the supervisory board of the Ministry of Supply and the Consumer Protection Agency.
The minster stressed the importance of working immediately to put strict measures over the prices and quality of products, especially Goods related to detergents, antiseptics, protective and hygiene supplies to limit price manipulation or fraud.
He pointed out that if any violations are committed, the products will be confiscated, the license of the violating place will be withdrawn, penalties will be imposed on the violators, and the perpetrators will be transferred to the Supreme State Security Prosecution.
The Minister of Supply called on all merchants, manufacturers and distributors to abide by the laws and decisions regulating the internal trade markets, including the use of appropriate procedures for buying and selling, avoiding price gouging and exploitation of citizens.
He stated that all the supervisory authorities have moved to inspect and control markets, stores and chain of hypermarkets to control performance and verify market discipline, sales and purchases.
