The Sukari gold mine — Egypt’s largest — recorded a roughly 7% increase in production during the first nine months of the current year, reaching 381,000 ounces compared with 356,000 ounces in the same period last year, according to the financial results of AngloGold Ashanti, the company holding the mine’s concession.
The company explained that the mine continued its growth trajectory for the third consecutive quarter, with output between July and September 2025 rising to 135,000 ounces, up from 132,000 ounces in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
AngloGold Ashanti also revealed that its global gold production grew by nearly 17% year-on-year during the third quarter, supported by the performance of several operating sites, most notably the Obuasi mine in Ghana, the Sukari mine in Egypt, and the Cuiabá mine in Brazil.
It is worth noting that the company acquired Centamin last year — the partner with Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in the operation of the Sukari mine — in a deal valued at $2.5 billion.
