The death toll from the Rapid Support Forces’ attack on the town of Kaluqi in Sudan’s South Kordofan State has risen to 114, according to Sudanese media reports. The strike was carried out using drones that targeted civilian areas, including a kindergarten, intensifying the shock and anger across the region.
Local authorities and eyewitnesses said the attack unfolded in three consecutive drone strikes. The first missile hit a kindergarten, killing and injuring children and adults. As residents rushed to help the wounded, a second strike targeted the gathering, causing additional casualties. A third missile then hit the rural hospital where victims were being transported for treatment, killing more people and destroying large sections of the facility.
Earlier, the locality’s executive director issued a statement confirming that 79 victims had been officially documented at that stage, including 32 men, four women and 43 children. He also reported 38 injuries, among them 21 men, six women and 11 children. He warned that the final toll was expected to rise as some victims were evacuated outside the area by relatives and because the hospital treating the wounded had itself been struck.
