The Sudanese Etegahat supplied 500,000 livestock to the Egyptian market, out of the 800,000 agreed on, at an investment cost of about $300 million.

This established partnership between the Sudanese company and Egypt began in 2014, and culminated in the signing of a strategic contract in 2016 for 800,000 Sudanese calf heads.

Meantime, both countries agreed on establishing a joint stock company specialized in agricultural and animal production in addition to food industries.

The Holding Company for Food Industries and the South Valley Development Company, affiliated to the Ministry of Public Business Sector, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Etegahat to establish the joint stock company.

The inking ceremony was attended by Minister of Supply Ali el Moselhi, Minister of Public Business Sector Hisham Tawfik, and Director-General of Sudan's Military Industry Corporation (MIC) Mirghani Idris, and Chairman of the Holding Company for Food Industries Ahmed Hassanein.

El Moselhi praised the economic cooperation between Egypt and Sudan, referring to the partnership and agreements reached by his ministry and the Sudanese company regarding the supply of livestock and the exchange of food commodities.

On his part, Tawfik described the establishment of the new venture as a "dream come true", noting that the cooperation between the South Valley Development Company and Etegahat started about a year ago.
