In press statements to Obeid reiterated Sudan's adherence to reach a binding legal agreement between Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia on GERD.

"The Renaissance Dam will provide electricity to Sudan at reasonable prices... We seek to increase the import of electricity from Ethiopia if the electrical transmission lines that need to be expanded are allowed," he added.

Two days ago, Ethiopian Minister of Water, Irrigation, and Energy Dr. Sileshi Bekele said that  The necessary preparations are underway to enable the two turbines of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) to generate electricity in the first months of the coming Ethiopian New year.
