A World Economic Forum study showed that robots are set to terminate 85 million jobs over the next 5 years.

According to Reuters the COVID-19 pandemic increases the changes in the medium and large companies work places, thus the human replacement with robots is happening even faster.

The study showed that the four executive directors out of five in 300 companies are speeding up the digitalization plans, applying new technologies and squandering the employment gains made since the economic depression in 2007 and 2008.

Also, half of the employees that are going to keep their jobs in the next five years will have to learn new skills and by the year 2025, the work market will be 50% humans and 50% robots.

Generally, the number of new jobs that were created will continue to decrease as the number of jobs destroyed continues to increase. Most of the companies around the world are using technology in data entering, accounting and management instead of humans.

Saadia Zahidi the executive director of the World Economic Forum said that the COVID-19 pandemic helped speed up the transition to the work future.

The Forum announced that the good news is that more than 97 million new jobs will be created in the IT maintenance, artificial intelligence and content creation fields. Also, humans will continue to work in the managing, consulting, decision making jobs. Not to mention that the demand on humans who work in environment friendly industries, artificial intelligence and product development fields is set to increase significantly.

The study showed that about 43% of the companies are working on decreasing their human jobs due to the electronic integration, 34% of the companies searched the expansion of their work also due to the electronic integration and that 41% of the companies are expanding their contractors hiring.
