On one Spanish street, the red light displays "Stand against Israel" and the green light "Freedom for Gaza," in a powerful new gesture that brings Madrid's political stance to the heart of the street.

This innovative move was part of a local initiative launched by pro-Palestinian groups in Spain, and sparked widespread controversy from the outset. It required a simple technology that integrates digital text into traffic light signs, but it carried a profound political weight, linking daily traffic to the international political scene.

Some passersby took photos of the traffic lights and their political stance, prompting others to engage in conversation about the war on Gaza. As pedestrians crossed the street, a moral question came to mind: Can we continue to cross as if nothing is happening there?

Undeterred and with full American support, Israel has continued its brutal crimes and genocide against the Palestinians since October 2023. The war has left more than 180,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons. Furthermore, famine has claimed the lives of many, including children, and widespread destruction has occurred.
