Spain has welcomed the Arab plan for rebuilding Gaza, with Foreign Minister Manuel José Albares stating that it offers Palestinians the opportunity to live peacefully on their land.
In a post on his official X account on Wednesday morning, Albares reaffirmed Spain’s support for securing a ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches the region.
The emergency Arab Summit in Cairo issued a final statement on Tuesday, rejecting the displacement of Palestinians and endorsing Egypt’s comprehensive plan to rebuild Gaza. The summit also called for Israel’s withdrawal from Syrian territories.
The leaders declared Egypt’s proposal a unified Arab initiative, urging financial, material, and political support to implement it.
They also appealed to the international community and financial institutions to urgently provide funding, citing the devastating impact of Israel’s military operations in Gaza, which have been backed by the United States.
