The Spanish government declared a three-day national mourning, as of today, Thursday, after more than 95 people died as a result of floods due to heavy rains that swept southeastern Spain.
According to the Al Arabiya website, most of them died in Valencia amid chaos prevailing in the affected areas, some of which are still isolated from the rest of the country, while relief agencies race against time to rescue people trapped by torrents and mud on Tuesday evening.
Heavy rains and strong winds have been sweeping southern and eastern Spain since the beginning of the week after the storm hit over the Mediterranean, leading to deadly floods in Valencia and the Andalusia region.
