The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that South African referee Victor Gomes will run Al Ahly’s game against Esperance in the Champions League.
Al Ahly are set to face Esperance Sportive de Tunis in the first leg of the CAF Champions League semifinals on Saturday, June 19 at the Stade Olympique de Radès in Tunis.
The Reds finished second in their group behind Simba SC and were drawn against a very tough Mamelodi Sundowns side, who finished on top of their group with a four-point gap, in the quarters.
However, they eliminated the Masandawana after winning 3-1 on aggregate.
On the other hand, their Tunisian counterpart played a huge role in knocking out Cairo’s other giant, Zamalek, as they qualified top of their group alongside MC Alger.
They then beat Algeria’s CR Belouizdad after their brilliant comeback as the match was decided by penalty shootouts.
