Somalia, US Discuss Enhancing Bilateral Relations

Speaker of Somali People's Assembly, Sheikh Adam Mohamed Nur Madbe held a meeting with a high-level American delegation headed by the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Molly Fee, and the Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa, Mike Hammer, at the headquarters of the US Embassy in the capital, Mogadishu.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries, in The areas of politics, security, counter-terrorism, development, economics, and issues of the Horn of Africa.

For his part, Madbe praised the tremendous American efforts through implementing development projects in the country, in addition to its role in fighting terrorism and developing the Somali army, according to the Somali News Agency (SONA).

In turn, American officials expressed the position of US government regarding the invalid memorandum of understanding between Ethiopia and the Somaliland region, calling for the necessity of full respect for the unity and sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia over its entire territory.
