Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Mohamed Awad, stated that Somalia remains committed to all agreements it has signed with Egypt.
He added, “We thank the Egyptian government and people for their support during recent times, which touched on Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdel Aty, in the New Administrative Capital, Somali minister highlighted Egypt’s historic role in Somalia’s journey toward liberation and independence.
Moreover, he emphasized that Egypt’s continued support has been instrumental in maintaining Somalia’s unity and stability, making Egypt’s role exceptional in the phases of building the Somali state.
Faki further noted, “The region is witnessing unprecedented crises and challenges on various levels. Egypt has played a historic role in Somalia’s liberation and independence journey.” He added that he exchanged views with Minister Abdel Aty on these unprecedented regional challenges.
The Somali minister also underscored that Egypt’s stance greatly contributed to the signing of the Ankara Declaration, which ensures Somalia’s unity and sovereignty.
