Somali Defense Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi discussed with his Italian counterpart, Guido Crosetto, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of defense, maritime security, building and qualifying the national army, financing the African Union Mission, in addition to counterterrorism, and promoting joint projects within the framework of Italy's Mattei Plan.
This comes as part of the official visit of the Somali Defense Minister to the Italian capital, Rome, as reported by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA).
The two ministers affirmed the importance of the historical relations and close cooperation between Somalia and Italy, and strengthening efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
