Hundreds of flights were cancelled at Amsterdam’s main airport on Sunday as icy weather disrupted air travel across the Netherlands, according to the Dutch News Agency.

Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport cancelled around 450 flights due to snow and freezing conditions, forcing airlines to ground aircraft and passengers to face widespread delays and cancellations.

Schiphol, one of Europe’s busiest aviation hubs, was hit by severe winter weather that made runway operations and ground handling unsafe. Airport authorities stated that the decision to cancel flights was made to ensure the safety of passengers and crew amid deteriorating conditions.

The disruption highlights the impact of winter storms on European air travel, with airlines and airports struggling to maintain schedules as snow and ice sweep across the region.

Travelers have been advised to check flight statuses directly with their airlines and allow extra time for their journeys, as weather-related disruptions continue.
