Smouha Sporting and Social Club (Smouha SC) chaired by Dr. Mohamed Abdel Hamid Bilal, hosted the Consul General of France in Alexandria, Lina Blan, along with a high-level official delegation from the French city of Marseille, to explore prospects for joint cooperation in the sports and cultural fields.
The meeting reflected Smouha Club’s strategic vision to expand beyond local activities and build effective international partnerships aimed at developing its sports and social ecosystem, while benefiting from European expertise—particularly in emerging and globally popular sports disciplines.
During the talks, Dr. Bilal highlighted the club’s capabilities and advanced infrastructure, noting that the coming phase will focus on specialized sports partnerships, especially in swimming and women’s and girls’ football. He stressed that these efforts align with the club’s commitment to empowering women in sports and keeping pace with modern global trends.
The visit also built on existing cultural cooperation between Smouha Club and French institutions, which has already resulted in successful French language courses organized at the club in collaboration with the French Institute. These initiatives have strengthened the cultural and educational dimension for club members and their families.
Both sides discussed mechanisms for exchanging sports expertise, implementing joint training programs, organizing camps and sporting events, and opening future avenues for talent development and player support through cooperation with sports institutions in Marseille.
Dr. Bilal emphasized that Smouha Club aspires to consolidate its position as a leading sports and social institution across the Mediterranean through partnerships based on practical implementation and sustainable impact, rather than ceremonial engagements.
The visit concluded with an emphasis on translating the discussions into concrete steps in the coming period, reflecting the depth of Egyptian–French relations and positioning Smouha Club as a successful model for international cooperation in sports and culture.
