Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has warned Egyptians against the expected second wave of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Egypt, in coinciding with the winter season.

“Many major countries around the world are witnessing a surge in Coronavirus infections, reporting more than 15,000 new cases daily,” Sisi said in his word during the inauguration of the Mostorod refinery on Sunday.

He also stressed that the state is dealing with this critical issue with the 'utmost transparency and credibility'.

Moreover, the president called on both the government and citizens to be alert and to tightly adhere to the precautionary measures in order not to face a serious problem.

It is worth mentioning that, El Sisi inaugurated on Sunday the Mostorod refinery, located in eastern Cairo, in the presence of the Minister of Oil and Petroleum and a number of high-level officials, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

The Mostorod refinery is situated near Cairo and is already one of Egypt’s largest refineries, with a throughput of 142,000 barrels per day (bpd).

As part of an ongoing program by the Egyptian Government to increase the oil-processing capacity of the country, the site is now being developed with a further refinery being constructed adjacent to it (the Citadel refinery).
