Sisi Values Bilateral Co-op Btw Egypt & Russia

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received on Wednesday, Secretary of Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev.

The meeting was attended by Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Major General Abbas Kamel, Head of General Intelligence, Fayza Abul Naga, Advisor to President for National Security Affairs,ans well as a number of senior Russian officials.

At the outset of the meeting, Secretary of Russian Security Council conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President Vladimir Putin to Sisi, stressing the importance that Russia attaches to consolidating bilateral relations with Egypt within the framework of the strategic partnership and cooperation agreement between both countries.

On his part, Sisi conveyed his sincere greetings to President Putin, praising the progress of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, the increase in trade exchange, in addition to the joint development projects being implemented, most notably the establishment of the Dabaa nuclear power station to generate electricity, and the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal axis.

Moreover, Patrushev briefed the president on the latest developments in the situation regarding the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and the latest developments in Russian movements in this context at the international level.

In this regard, Sisi affirmed Egypt’s position on the importance of giving priority to diplomatic ssolutions for the crisis, and supporting all efforts aimed at quickly settling it politically, in a way that preserves International peace and security, and also ends the negative economic repercussions, which have caused great harm to countries with emerging economies, especially with regard to global food security, which is exposed to serious risks.

 The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations in a number of fields, as well as exchanging views on regional and international issues of common interest.
