Sisi Urges Egyptians to Adhere to Gov. Measures

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi hoped that the Egyptian people will abide by all precautionary measures taken by the government to combat the new coronavirus, known as COVID-19.

Sisi added on Wednesday that he is looking forward to people's commitment to the additional preventive measures.

“On the first day of the government's implementation of the additional package of precautionary measures against the coronavirus, I look forward to everyone’s commitment to these measures and not breaching them for the safety and security of Egypt and the Egyptians,” Sisi posted on his social media platforms.

He manifested that “I confirm that we can succeed in our mission by joining everyone led by the great Egyptian woman and her family, adults and youth, and also the efforts of our children in all directions, the brave armed forces and civil police, and all the heroes of the comprehensive health care system spread throughout Egypt.”

Sisi continued as saying “I tell you that we will cross and overcome all these difficult moments, and with God's help it will become a memory of the distant past.”

The Health Ministry announced on Wednesday that the total discovered cases of locals and foreigners infected with COVID-19 have reached 456 so far, including 21 deaths and 95 recoveries.

Egypt confirmed 54 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, including the 40 cases announced by the country's health minister earlier in the day, and one death case of a 63-year-old Egyptian from Monofiya governorate, said the ministry's spokesman Khaled Megahed in a statement.

Egypt has recently taken strict precautionary measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, including temporary closure of schools, universities, museums and archeological sites, reducing employees and sterilizing means of transport, government offices and tourist attractions.

Moreover, the Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli further announced ion Tuesday a partial curfew nationwide from 7:00 evening to 6:00 morning and a complete shutdown of all entertainment places for the coming two weeks.
