Sisi Reviews Covid-19 Developments Nationwide

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din on Wednesday and discussed the latest epidemiological situation nationwide in regard to the coronavirus pandemic, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

The meeting followed up on the current epidemiological situation regarding the spread of coronavirus across the country as well as the progress of the health aspect of the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family.

The meeting also covered the workflow of the national project for the manufacture and assembly of plasma derivatives, in addition to the state’s efforts to reduce road accidents.

Tag El-Din presented the current measures being taken by the government to contain the spread of coronavirus, including campaigns to vaccinate citizens as well as preparing all medical facilities to receive and deal with cases.

On his part, Sisi directed strengthening awareness programs for all citizens regarding the precautionary measures taken to prevent infection with coronavirus, as well as stressing the full commitment to implementing these measures, especially in places with a high density of civilian presence, such as government departments, universities, schools, and public service spaces.

This was directed to be applied in addition to taking the necessary steps to reduce densities in these places and applying rules of prevention, hygiene, and disinfection in order to maintain the balanced path that the state has taken throughout the pandemic.

Sisi underlined the need to continue vaccination campaigns for the targeted groups and facilitate the process of receiving booster shots for those who have been vaccinated.

This is in addition to supplying chest hospitals nationwide with more devices and equipment necessary to deal with coronavirus cases and enhancing their accommodation capabilities, which is an important addition to the health system in Egypt in general.

With regard to the National Project for Developing the Egyptian Family, Tag El Din cited the increase in the number of medical vehicles equipped within the framework of the project.

A contract was recently signed with the German side to supply 500 new fully equipped medical convoys.

Moreover, Sisi issued directives to make an integrated plan to provide all the necessary capabilities for the ideal operation of these vehicles and make the best use of them.

This includes the provision of qualified medical and administrative personnel at the highest level, in addition to the careful regulation of schedules for the movement of vehicles and the provision of equipment needed for their operation and maintenance.

“The President was also briefed on the developments pertaining to the national project for the manufacture and assembly of plasma derivatives," the spokesman added.

Rady noted that Sisi instructed the need to complete the establishment of assembly centers nationwide according to the designated timetables.

This is in addition to intensifying media campaigns to raise public awareness of the impact of this important national project on citizens’ health.

President Sisi was also briefed on the state’s efforts to reduce road accidents, calling for the need to strengthen the insurance procedures followed on all public roads and highways, using both human and electronic components. This is to achieve traffic discipline and ensure the safety of citizens and vehicles.
