President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi today received General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistani Army, at Ittihadiya Palace.
The meeting was attended by General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production, Ambassador Amer Showket, Ambassador of Pakistan in Cairo, and Major General Syed Muhammad Jawad, Principal Staff Officer to the Chief of Army Staff.
Mohamed El-Shinawi, Official Presidential Spokesperson stated that President Sisi expressed his appreciation for the noticeable development in Egyptian-Pakistani relations during the current stage, affirming Egypt's keenness to continue strengthening and elevating bilateral cooperation across various fields.
This aims to achieve the common interests of the Egyptian and Pakistani peoples and contribute to driving development and prosperity efforts in both countries.
The Spokesperson added that the Pakistani Chief of Army Staff conveyed the greetings of Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, to President El-Sisi, praising Egypt's pivotal role in de-escalating tensions and achieving stability in the Middle East region.
He also congratulated President Sisi on the success of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, which witnessed the signing of the agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip, commending the relentless Egyptian efforts to end the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip.
The Spokesperson further noted that the meeting also addressed ways to enhance regional security and peace, both in the Middle East and South Asia.
The importance of intensifying consultation between the two countries to avoid escalation and confront common challenges was stressed, in addition to discussing prospects for cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism and extremism.
