President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Saturday Jean-Claude Kabongo, the special investment adviser to the Congolese president, who handed over a message from President Félix Tshisekedi to Sisi, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
The meeting was also attended by Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Cairo.
Rady stated that the written message included expressing the DRC's support for the determinants of the Egyptian position towards dealing with the issue of the Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam (GERD).
“The letter also embraces Congo’s aspiration to develop bilateral relations with Egypt and benefit from its experience in the field of infrastructure and major development projects,” he added.
On his part, the Egyptian president expressed appreciation for the position of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in support of Egypt with regard to the issues of the Nile water, stressing that Egypt’s readiness to help the Democratic Republic of the Congo and all African countries in terms of cooperation, construction, development and peace.

“President Sisi also affirmed Egypt's pride in the distinguished cooperation relations with the DRC in various fields, and the keenness to support it in the various development and technical fields,” the spokesman noted.
In the meantime, Kabongo also conveyed the Congolese president's praise of the Egyptian stances in support of his country in all international and regional forums.
It’s worth noting that Egypt sent medical aid convoy to the DRC so as to face the repercussions of the spread of the novel coronavirus in the African country.
