Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has welcomed what he described as a “historic momentum” in the international community’s recognition of the State of Palestine, applauding a series of recent diplomatic acknowledgments that have strengthened the Palestinian cause on the global stage.

In a statement issued on Friday, El-Sisi commended the “increasing alignment of the world’s conscience” in support of Palestinian statehood and reiterated Egypt’s firm position on the need for a comprehensive and just solution to the conflict based on the two-state framework.

“The growing international consensus in favor of recognizing Palestine marks a turning point,” El-Sisi said, noting that such recognition “reaffirms the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and brings us closer to lasting peace in the region.”

The Egyptian leader also expressed appreciation for the recent mediation efforts led by former U.S. President Donald Trump to end the ongoing war in Gaza, which has entered its eleventh month. “All genuine efforts aimed at halting bloodshed and restoring stability in Gaza are welcome,” El-Sisi remarked, emphasizing that Cairo continues to play a central role in humanitarian coordination and ceasefire negotiations.

According to sources, several European and Latin American nations have joined a wave of recognition for Palestinian statehood in recent weeks, citing the humanitarian toll of the Gaza conflict and the growing urgency for a permanent political settlement.

El-Sisi’s remarks come amid heightened regional and international efforts to secure a durable ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, as talks mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States seek to establish a framework for post-war reconstruction and security guarantees.

Egypt has consistently called for the resumption of peace talks and the establishment of a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

“The path to stability in the Middle East runs through justice,” El-Sisi concluded. “Recognizing Palestine is not just a political step, it is a moral imperative.”
