Sisi Orders Gov't to Secure Most Effective COVID-19 Vaccines

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi instructed on Saturday the bodies concerned to negotiate the best possible deals with global coronavirus vaccine makers, according to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.

President Sisi emphasized that the deals must secure the most effective vaccines with the largest possible amount to be delivered as soon as possible.

Sisi was speaking during his meeting Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Finance Minister Mohamed Maait, Health Minister Hala Zayed, and presidential health adviser Mohamed Awad Tag el-Din,

The president directed 'Tahya Masr' Fund to support the provision of vaccines to eligible and high-priority groups under the umbrella of the Hayah Karima (Decent Life) program.

Sisi also stressed the need to establish vaccination centers nationwide to accommodate citizens who wish to get the vaccine when available, taking into account the highest health and preventive standards.

Zayed, on her part, reviewed measures taken to contain the second wave of coronavirus pandemic, based on the experience accumulated by the Health Ministry's agencies from dealing with the first wave, and effective ways to control the epidemiological situation to fill any gaps that may have appeared before.

She also briefed the president on the situation of providing the most advanced coronavirus detectors, and the latest efforts to import the best vaccines, especially concerning the required quantities and timing of supply.

Zayed also reviewed Egypt's cooperation with various international bodies, including China, in the research, development, and production of vaccines, as well as the establishment of a platform for cooperation in measures to confront the virus.

She added that a national plan was developed for the distribution of vaccines when available, which includes launching an automated system to follow up registration for receiving the vaccine.
