Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein today. The two leaders held a meeting with the participation of delegations from both countries.
According to the Presidential Spokesperson, the discussions focused on regional issues and efforts to coordinate positions regarding developments in the Palestinian territories. Both leaders emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid. They also highlighted the importance of building on the outcomes of the recent extraordinary Arab and Islamic summit held in Riyadh.
The two leaders stressed their commitment to the success of the upcoming Conference to Support Humanitarian Response in Gaza, which Cairo will host on December 2. They underscored the need for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in ensuring the delivery of aid to Gaza, while emphasizing the pivotal role of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in this context.
President El-Sisi commended Jordan's ongoing efforts to support the Palestinian people, while King Abdullah expressed his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s endeavors to secure a ceasefire and facilitate aid to the region.
Both leaders reiterated their unequivocal rejection of any attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause or displace Palestinians from their homeland. They affirmed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is essential to implementing the two-state solution and ensuring stability in the region.
The talks also addressed the situation in Lebanon, with the leaders welcoming the ceasefire and emphasizing their commitment to Lebanon's security, sovereignty, and stability. They condemned any aggression against the country and called on all parties to act responsibly to de-escalate the ongoing tensions in the region.
Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that the meeting reflected the deep ties between Egypt and Jordan, with both sides expressing their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across various fields to achieve the aspirations of their peoples for progress and prosperity.
