President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s support for Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during a phone call with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani, following attacks that targeted Iraq earlier in the day.
According to Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, President el-Sisi expressed Egypt’s solidarity with the Iraqi government’s position rejecting involvement in the current escalation. He stressed Egypt’s firm stance against any violation of the sovereignty of Arab states or threats to their security and stability.
The call reflected convergence in views between Cairo and Baghdad on the need to return to dialogue and diplomatic efforts to reach political solutions to the ongoing crisis. For his part, the Iraqi prime minister thanked President el-Sisi for Egypt’s continued support for Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
