President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone conversation on Wednesday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, to strengthen bilateral relations and address the latest regional developments.

According to Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shenawy, President Pezeshkian expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He thanked President Sisi for his personal efforts in supporting months-long mediation that culminated in the agreement restoring cooperation between Iran and the IAEA, signed in Cairo on September 9, 2025. The Iranian leader hailed Egypt’s constructive role in enabling a path for dialogue and stability.

For his part, President Sisi congratulated Pezeshkian on the agreement, stressing Egypt’s commitment to de-escalation and conflict containment amid rising tensions in the region. He underlined the importance of all parties engaging in serious and constructive dialogue on the Iranian nuclear issue and returning to negotiations to reach a peaceful settlement that safeguards regional security and prevents further escalation.

The two leaders also discussed the Gaza crisis, reiterating the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire to end the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe. Both strongly rejected attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians, emphasizing that the two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian state and East Jerusalem as its capital, remains the only path to lasting peace and stability.

In addition, the conversation touched on ways to enhance bilateral relations across multiple fields, with both presidents agreeing to work toward initiatives that would serve the interests of their peoples while contributing to broader regional security and stability.
