Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met in Cairo with Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, where both sides reaffirmed their firm rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land.
During the meeting, President El-Sisi stressed the importance of building on the momentum in Egypt–EU relations following their upgrade to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The talks covered political, security, and economic cooperation, with emphasis on coordination over regional stability, counterterrorism, migration, and expanding trade and investment ties.
Kallas expressed the European Union’s appreciation for cooperation with Egypt and confirmed that the second tranche of EU financial support to Egypt will be disbursed in the coming days. She also highlighted the EU’s interest in deepening economic cooperation and launching the first Egypt–EU security and defense dialogue in March 2026.
Regional developments, particularly the situation in Gaza, featured prominently in the discussions. Both sides underlined the need for full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, unrestricted humanitarian aid delivery, and the swift start of Gaza’s reconstruction. They also agreed on the urgency of moving forward with the second phase of the ceasefire and reviving the political process toward a comprehensive and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.
