President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced on Thursday Egypt is aiming to secure membership of the African Peace and Security Council (PSC) for the period 2024-2026.
During his speech at the 22nd Summit "COMESA", President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt came from a belief in its responsibility towards supporting peace and security efforts in the African continent.
The PSC is the standing decision-making organ of the AU for the prevention, management, and resolution of conflicts.
It is a collective security and early warning arrangement intended to facilitate timely and efficient responses to conflict and crisis situations in Africa.
The council is also the key pillar of the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA), which is the framework for promoting peace, security, and stability in Africa.
