President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received today, Wednesday, Gordan Grlić-Radman, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of Croatia, in the presence of Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Ambassador of Croatia in Cairo.
Sisi stressed the historical friendly relations between Egypt and Croatia, and his country's aspiration to strengthen the mechanisms of bilateral cooperation at various levels, in addition to increasing the rates of trade exchange and developing economic cooperation to keep pace with the distinguished political relations between the two friendly countries, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
For his part, the Croatian Foreign Minister expressed his honor to meet Sisi, stressing the keenness to continue coordination and consultation between the two friendly countries in various fields, and looking forward to developing and strengthening Croatia's relations with Egypt, especially in light of its pivotal role under the leadership of the current leadership to lay the foundations of stability and security in the Middle East and the African continent.
He lauded Egypt's successful and capable efforts to stop the threat of illegal immigration through its territory and to Europe.
Sisi and Grlić-Radman also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, especially economic, investment and trade and tackled developments of a number of regional issues of mutual interest, most notably the Libyan issue.
Views were also exchanged on the phenomenon of illegal immigration, as Sisi affirmed Egypt's keenness to combat this phenomenon, referring to the Egyptian efforts to successfully address the movement of refugees across the Mediterranean.
