In a powerful address during the 34th Arab League Summit held in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi warned that the Palestinian cause is undergoing one of its most dangerous and sensitive phases, with the people of Gaza facing systematic violence and an existential threat.

President El-Sisi condemned the ongoing Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, now entering their nineteenth consecutive month, as a brutal campaign that seeks to erase the Palestinian presence in the territory. He described the destruction of Gaza as "deliberate and comprehensive," noting that the use of hunger, displacement, and destruction has driven nearly two million Palestinians from their homes.

“Not a stone has been left unturned by the Israeli war machine. It has spared neither child nor elder, using starvation and the collapse of healthcare as weapons,” El-Sisi stated.

The President also drew attention to the situation in the West Bank, where, he said, the same oppressive policies of killing and demolition continue. Despite this, the Palestinian people remain steadfast and determined in their rightful claim to their land.

El-Sisi highlighted Egypt’s efforts since October 2023 to broker a ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid, calling on the international community, particularly the United States, to take decisive action to stop the bloodshed and end the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

He further stressed that no regional peace will be lasting or comprehensive without the establishment of a Palestinian state, in line with international legitimacy.

“Even if Israel succeeds in normalizing relations with all Arab states, lasting peace in the Middle East will remain elusive unless a Palestinian state is established,” El-Sisi declared.

Calling on President Donald Trump to play an active mediating role, El-Sisi appealed for immediate pressure to stop the war and launch a serious political process that can lead to a final and just settlement. He urged the U.S. to repeat its historic role in brokering the Egypt-Israel peace agreement in the 1970s, this time to help achieve peace for Palestine.

In closing, President El-Sisi issued a call for unity and collective Arab action, emphasizing that the region faces a critical moment in its history.

“Let us put the interests of our Arab nation above all else. Let us work hand in hand to resolve our shared crises, especially the Palestinian issue—our central cause that demands justice and tolerates no compromise,” he said.

“Together, let us turn this summit into a defining moment for Arab cooperation. Our people deserve a future worthy of their great civilizations and enduring strength.”

The summit, titled “Baghdad of Peace Embraces Arab Causes,” comes at a time of unprecedented regional turmoil, with Gaza enduring a deep humanitarian catastrophe. Baghdad hosts the Arab League summit for the fourth time in its history, with the Palestinian crisis firmly at the top of the agenda.
