President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, approved the appointment of Lt. Gen. Abdel Meguid Saqr as Assistant to the President of the Republic.
The decision came at the conclusion of a ceremony held to honor Saqr, the former minister of defense, in the presence of Lt. Gen. Ashraf Salem Zahir, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Khalifa, senior commanders, and branch leaders.
According to Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, the ceremony included a documentary reviewing Saqr’s service and contributions during his tenure. In his remarks, President Sisi expressed appreciation for Saqr’s efforts in carrying out his duties and safeguarding the nation’s security, noting that the Armed Forces continue to uphold their responsibilities across successive generations.
The president awarded Saqr the Order of the Republic, First Class, in recognition of his national service. At the end of the event, President Sisi ratified the decision appointing him as Assistant to the President.
