Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry, received a phone call, on Wednesday from United States (US) Secretary of State, Antony Blinken to consult on bilateral relations and a number of regional and international issues of common concern, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zaid.
During the phone call, Blinken stressed the importance of the strategic partnership between both countries, expressing his keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, including economic, developmental, military and security ones.
Moreover, US Secretary of State was also keen to exchange views and consult on the positions of the two countries on a number of regional issues, foremost of which are Sudan, Libya and the Palestinian issue. In this regard, Minister Shoukry highlighted Egypt's vision and positions towards these issues.
Furthermore, US top diplomate appreciated tthekey role played by Egypt within the framework of the mechanism of Sudan's neighboring countries, highlighting the US's keenness to coordinate with Egypt to end the crisis in Sudan, in addition to coordinating positions and cooperation on finding effective and sustainable solutions to the various crises and challenges facing the region.
In addition, Abu Zaid revealed that the contact between the foreign ministers (FMs) of Egypt and US reflected the centrality and specificity of bilateral relations between the two countries, and their aspiration to strengthen the partnership between them as it contributes to achieving their common interests as well as consolidating and supporting regional stability.
