Shoukry to Palestinian Counterpart: We are following up with concern situation in occupied territories

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad Al-Malki, who is visiting Cairo accompanying Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh, Prime Minister of Palestine, during his current official visit to Cairo. 

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zaid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Shoukry stressed during the meeting that Egypt is following with great concern the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the escalation in the pace of violence against the Palestinian people, in conjunction with the successive storming of Palestinian cities and the continuation of Unilateral measures by the Israeli side, including the resumption of settlement activities in violation of the rules of international law and decisions of international legitimacy.

Ambassador Abu Zeid stated that the foreign minister reviewed in this regard Egypt's efforts to support the Palestinian cause in various regional and international frameworks and forums. 

The Foreign Ministry spokesman revealed that the Palestinian Foreign Minister was keen on informing Shoukry of the developments of the situation in the occupied territories and the practices and violations committed by Israeli Forces, expressing Palestine's great appreciation for the historical and steadfast Egyptian role in supporting the Palestinian cause. 

Riyad Al-Malki also expressed his aspiration to continue consultations and coordination with his Egyptian counterpart during the next stage in order to intensify efforts to defend Palestinian rights.
