Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed on Sunday the need to reach a binding legal agreement to fill and operate the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), pointing out to China's full understanding for the Nile River's utmost importance to Egypt.
In press statements, Shoukry stressed that the Chinese side, represented in the Chinese foreign minister, supports Egypt regarding the issue of the Renaissance Dam.
Shoukry also explained that there is a development in cooperation with China in many important projects in the country, pointing out that there is a special relationship between Egypt and China, and there is a strong will between the two countries to strengthen the relationship and solidarity to achieve international and regional stability and security.
Noteworthy, Shoukry held a session of talks with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, on the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and the coordination and consultation about the course of bilateral cooperation and issues of common interest, especially regarding the successive international and regional developments.
