Today, Sunday, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call from Geir Pedersen, the UN Special Envoy for Syria, according to Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Abu Zeid confirmed that Sameh Shoukry discussed, during the call, the outcomes of the meeting of the Arab Ministerial Liaison Committee on Syria, which was held in Cairo on August 15, stressing the committee's keenness to complete the task entrusted to it in order to reach a settlement to the Syrian crisis in all its dimensions, and to preserve the unity and stability of Syria. .
The Foreign Ministry spokesman added that Shoukry exchanged views with the UN envoy on the latest developments regarding the situation in Syria at various levels, and the efforts being made regarding all aspects of the Syrian crisis. They also agreed to arrange a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in September.
