Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry reiterated the necessity of an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and allowing humanitarian aid to enter the Strip, in addition to reaching a radical solution to the Palestinian issue, which is the establishment of the State of Palestine on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international references.

This came during Shoukry’s meeting on Wednesday with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of their participation in the activities of the 6th session of the Arab-Russian Forum, hosted in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh.

Ahmed Abou Zeid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Shoukry touched on various aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as development projects in which the two countries participate, most notably the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project and the Russian industrial zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).

He expressed the Egyptian side's interest in the continued influx of Russian tourism to Egypt, especially since Egypt is one of the most important destinations for Russian tourists, and praised the distinguished cooperation and coordination between the two countries in various international forums and the mutual support for international nominations from the two countries for international positions and jobs.
