Shoukry Expresses Appreciation to Russia for Its Position on GERD Issue

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry said that the discussions he held with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, addressed aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries, and agreed to enhance cooperation in all fields.

"I briefed the Russian minister on the latest developments in the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue, in the light of the statement issued by the Security Council.. I thank Russia for the support that Egypt received in the context of addressing this issue in the Security Council."

"We look forward to continued cooperation between the two countries in this regard, in order to reach, as soon as possible, a binding legal agreement under the auspices of the African Union, that will achieve the interests of all parties and remove any tension that may arise due to the continuation of unilateral policies."
