Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call from his Comorian counterpart Duhair Zul Kamal, to consult and coordinate on the developments of the Sudanese crisis.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zaid said that the phone call comes within the framework of the current presidency of the Comoros Islands to the African Union (UN), and its keennes to consult with Sudan’s neighboring countries on ways to end the current crisis, which represents a serious challenge to peace and security in the African continent.
Moreover, both officials expressed their deep concern about non-compliance with the armistice in Sudan and the multiple violations of the ceasefire, which exposes civilians and foreign communities to great and increasing dangers, as revealed by the course of events during the past two days.
Furthermore, Shoukry was keen to inform his Comorian counterpart about Egypt's evacuation procedures for its citizens from Sudan, reviewing the efforts undertaken by Egypt to encourage the parties to reach a permanent ceasefire and put an end to the suffering of the brotherly Sudanese people.
He also stressed the need for both sides to listen to the voice of reason and deal positively with all efforts aimed at calm in order to spare Sudan the catastrophic consequences of this conflict.
