Shoukry, Blinken Discuss Situation in Sudan, Libya

Sameh Shoukry, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, received, Thursday, a phone call from the US State Secretary Antony Blinken.

Shoukry and Blinken asserted the depth of the Egyptian-Us ties and their importance on the regional and international levels, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Abu Zeid added that both ministers highlighted that the relationships between both countries are special and deep-rooted due to the presence of effective mutual work frames. 

They also look forward to enhancing the strategic partnership between Egypt and the US.

Both officials discussed various regional issues, including the situation in Sudan and Libya, according to Abu Zeid. 

He also revealed that Shoukry reviewed Egypt's political and humanitarian efforts in Sudan, including Egypt's intention to call for a meeting for Sudan's neighbouring countries' foreign ministers on the sidelines of the upcoming UN General Assembly meetings next week. 

Moreover, Shoukry reviewed Egypt's efforts in supporting and aiding people in Libya.

On his side, Blinken expressed US appreciation for Egypt's role in supporting stability and security in the Middle East and Africa.
