The weapon used in the attack was found by police when they were apprehending the suspect, according to reports. Authorities declared that they had started a murder inquiry. The motivation has not yet been made clear.
Along with a number of eateries and stores, the cultural centre is located on the street next to the Château d'Eau metro station.
