Sherine Denies Pregnancy Rumors for Second Time

Egyptian singer-actress, Sherine Abdel-Wahab performed Monday evening live in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on the sidelines of the 89th Saudi National Day celebrations, amid a large audience.

The concert comes after a long absence for the entertainment scene, which sparked pregnancy rumors.

The Egyptian superstar was keen to set the record straight during the concert, she jokingly told her audience that she "was not pregnant".

In 2018, Sherine tied the knot with her friend and fellow singer, Hossam Habib in a private ceremony, amid the attendance of their family, and close friends.

The 38-year-old superstar had denied later that year, pregnancy rumors for the first time.

"It is not possible for all the singers to be pregnant at the same time, it should be in turns, who will work?” she said in a televised remark.

The superstar already had two daughters, Hana and Maryam Mustafa, from her previous marriage, when the rumors circulated, at a time when Leabanse superstar, Nancy Ajram was pregnant with her third child, Lya.

“Nancy Ajram is enough, when she safely delivers.. then I will be the one after Nancy." she added humorously.

Saudi Arabian National day, known as Al-Yaom-ul-Watany, is always marked on 23 September.

The day – became a public holiday in 2007 – commemorates Saudi King Abdulaziz announcement of the unification of the country as a kingdom in 1932.

The 38-year-old superstar talent was first discovered as a child by her music teacher at school, who convinced her mother to take her to the Cairo Opera House to meet veteran musician Selim Sahab.

She auditioned in front of him and he liked her voice a lot. The singer had served as a choral member at the Cairo Opera House from the age of nine to twelve, and then she was given a chance to become a solo singer.

She kept performing at the Cairo Opera House while looking for a music producer to launch her professional career.

At the age of 18, she was introduced to director and music producer Nasr Mahrous, who liked her voice and decided to collaborate with her through “Free Music” company, where she met with superstar Tamer Hosny, who was also then, a new talent seeking an opportunity too.

Her first recorded song released in 2002 as a part of the album that included works of other artists.

The album was released, by the title “Free Mix3: Tamer and Sherine” and was a big hit all across the entire Middle East and North Africa.

“Free Mix3: Tamer and Sherine” sold more than 20 Million copies all across the whole MENA, due to the singer’s single “Ah ya Leil”, which boosted her fame.

In early 2000, she made duet “Bahebak” with Egyptian singer Mohamed Mohy, which achieved great success and added more to her fame.

It was followed by “Garrh Tanee” which was released in 2003 and boosted her continues success.

She made her acting debut in 2003, co-starring prominent actor Ahmed Helmy’s film “Medo Mashakil” (Medo is trouble).

The 38-year-old superstar is considered as one of Egypt’s and Middle East’s most talented voices.
